Beauty with Brains

Cleopatra, a name that evokes the image of a beautiful lady famous for her associations with high ranking Romans of her times. Her beauty has been eulogised so much. Recently from one of my students I heard a new fact about her. (Learning is a never ending process.) She was a formidable scholar who knew seven languages. Besides, she was a naval commander too. Indeed she was an intelligent lady whose brainy factor was eclipsed by the interesting factors.

A Strange Love

Rain, you come down pouring,
When kids run out roaring,
You pat them, tickle them and splash on them
With cool arms extended you play with them
They laugh and run into your arms and back to shelter
The mirth of the innocent is worth watching
Rain knows the time when schools get over
The elders rant in dismay as you pour over
But, rain loves kids and kids love rain
A strange kind of love!

Library!

Second year of workshop for B Ed. We were asked to make a presentation of library along with some drawings of furniture in library. Me being very poor in drawing did this to hide the flaws.

Stay Cool with this Summer Drink

Two days back I made a drink with raw mangoes. It is called 'Aam Ka Panna'. It has good cooling effect. I decided to share the recipe with my cousins through whatsapp. While sending, the phone edited it without my notice and sent it as 'Sam Ka Panna'. This type of mistake happens when the smart phone considers itself smarter than us.

Coming back to aam ka panna, it is an Indian drink which has heat resistant properties. It prevents the loss of sodium and iron from body due to excessive sweating. It is considered to be a tonic too. Here is how I made it.

Cook 3 small raw mangoes in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles. Once cool, squeeze out the pulp and grind it in a blender or hand blend it. Add four glasses of cold water and strain. Add sugar as required, rock salt (I used ordinary salt) cumin (jeera) powder and if needed a little pepper powder. Some add mint leaves to it. The refreshing drink is ready.

Reminiscing While Whatsapping!

In the beginning the world was small. It consisted human's family and community. Communication was through gestures and symbols. The boundless talents of man developed the world and he discovered a huge universe. There were many ways to communicate. Then came the web which connected the world. It made the huge world small with communities and groups and people started chatting again with symbols and gestures.

Time Travelling

Far from the maddening crowd, into the tranquillity of rural life it looked like the legendary spatial concept of time travelling. Here life moves slow, relaxed and looks ancient. The green field, the ox ploughing the field and the farmer in typical village attire lured us to stop en route and click some pics.
